Can I use published articles I wrote as a graduate student in the dissertation?

Answer

Yes, with the approval of your advisor, your previously published work may be used to fulfill all or part of your degree requirement. Before including previously published work in your manuscript, first check to see if the article was published with a Creative Commons license (CC-BY, CC-BY-NC-ND, and others). Follow the guidance in the UCI Thesis & Dissertation Formatting Manual for how to incorporate and acknowledge your previously published work.

If you have questions or concerns, please email gradthesis@uci.edu.
